Beaurepaires - 2007 Highway Hero

Noticing a truck weaving all over the road behind him, Ngaruawahia truck driver Sonny Roberts got straight on his CB radio to see if the stricken vehicle needed help. The response was faint, with the driver saying he felt unwell and may need an ambulance. Sonny called emergency services as the driver managed to safely pull over.

Following first aid instructions over the phone, Sonny kept the driver alive until an ambulance arrived. This rapid-thinking act earned Sonny the 2007 Highway Hero award.
